Pahiyas 2012 is Wet but Festive

Once again, Lucban celebrates the Lucban San Isidro Pahiyas Festival, the colorful summer festival honoring the patron saint of farmers San Isidro Labrador.

It was a bit cold and raining early in the morning but the weather becomes hotter as the sun shines occasionally.  Generally the weather is hazy, the sky is gloomy in Lucban but the people and the chaos makes it warm and sometimes unbearable as thousands of tourists, locals and foreigners alike roam around the streets of Lucban to witness the Pahiyas.

Several houses with kiping decorations have just came out in all their creativity and grandeur, thanks to the Php 100,000 peso grand prize being sponsored by a local food chain.  New designs, forms and sizes are seen for the first time during this years celebration like the kiping chandelier hung horizontally instead of the usual vertical ones.

Some decorations though are covered with plastics as rains occasionally pours but the mood is undeniably festive.
